Morose
Opportunistic use of the Kennedy name.

Like others have said, this is more about Carly than Jackie but that was OK with me. I wasn't surprised as Jackie O was known to keep her cards close to her chest and I wouldn't have respected Carly had she spilled all of the tea about Jackie.

That all being said, I did find this fairly interesting as it almost seemed to pick up where Simon's memoir, Boys in the Trees, left off, occasionally talking about her marriage to Jim Hart and also referring to some of her past drug use and her neurotic tendencies. I wish more photos would have been included (surely Carly has some personal snapshots squirreled away somewhere) but I guess that's why Google was invented.

If you are a Carly Simon fan and want to read more about her life, pick this up but don't expect an intimate report about Jackie.

(BTW, I recently learned that Jim Hart wrote a memoir [b:Lucky Jim|32445593|Lucky Jim|James Hart|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1475875907l/32445593._SY75_.jpg|53032372]and I am curious to get his side of the story about his marriage to Simon.)

A very touching memoir of the love and friendship between Carly and Jackie. Each lending strength and comfort when and were needed and embracing that comfort. It was so touching to see Carly acknowledging that she “…learned from the great…” as she was, “Touched by the Sun.”

Carly Simon made a book about Jackie Kennedy all about.. Carly Simon? Boys in The Trees was one of my favorite reads last year, but this one could be skipped. The writing is good, the stories are fine, but don’t expect anything revolutionary about Jackie Kennedy. Carly could have summarized as follows, “Jackie and I were dear friends. She is as still an intensely private woman despite our very close friendship. We loved Martha’s Vineyard. She meant and means a lot to me. The end.”

This book was certainly different than I was expecting. This wasn't a book about Jackie, but a book about a friendship. I felt Carly's love for her friend throughout, but I just wanted a bit more about the time they spent together. Also, I agree that pictures would have added so much to this book.

I won this in a Goodreads Giveaway.

light read, pretty good if you like Carly Simon. After I read this book I played Carly Simon songs for days and watched her live videos performing at Martha's Vineyard. Good stuff.

I felt as if Carly was in awe of Jackie even a generation after Jackie passed. Unbelievable the thrall Jackie cast over her friends. It must have been splendid to be in Jackie's orbit.

I finished "Touched By The Sun" tonight and this single line spoke to my heart: "Oh, Mother. I didn't know that when you died I'd never be me anymore."

After my dad died I had no idea who I was anymore. Even if the rest of the book had been terrible, this line and knowing that someone else understands would have made the book worth reading.

That being said, I found the book riveting and finished it in three sittings, never wanting to put it down.

This isn’t a book about Jackie Onassis - it is about Carly Simon, her life after divorcing James Taylor, and how Mrs. Onassis was an important part of that life.

I especially enjoyed listening to Elizabeth McGovern’s narration of Carly’s beautiful blend of words
