A Confusing Mess of Timelines!👎
A 2.5 Star Read & Listen For Me.📖 🎧
'Wicked' By:
Amo Jones
🎧 Audiobook  Narrated by: Michelle Sparks, Grayson Owens
Length: 9 hrs and 39 mins

I found all of the timelines jumping around, without any real explanation, to be not only annoying but also confusing and off-putting to read and listen to!

It actually completely ruined my enjoyment of Wicked and Ruby's story. There was no real explanation for Skully, Victor, or the Bratva.🤷🏻‍♀️ Then, there were all the fake deaths.🙄 What happened to Ruby near the end was just gratuitous violence for the sake of it, at that point!

All in all, compared to 'Sicko', this was a complete letdown in quality and content for me. I'm sure it hit differently for others, though.🤷🏻‍♀️

The narrators were ok. I might feel swayed by the content, sorry.😟

Very hard to follow the storyline.  The scenes jumped around a lot and left me feeling that things were incomplete and unexplained.  The summation in the last chapter just didn’t make up for the lack of continuity in the book.

I LOVED Sicko, and I've been dying to read more books by Amo Jones ever since I finished it. When I looked up the authors that were going to be at the Sweetgrass Event and saw that Jones would be there, I got so excited! I cannot wait to get Sicko signed, but I also knew I needed to read more of her backlist ASAP. I kept gravitating toward Wicked because it looked and sounded a lot like Sicko, so I picked it up in January. It was a heavy book. It deals with so many dark themes that it was a tough read at times, just like Sicko was. But we have a surprise baby in it, and I love that trope. I loved seeing Ruby figure out her life and learn to stand independently. She had a very rough life, and it was so interesting to see how she took it all and made it her own. By the end of the book, we had so many reveals that I never saw coming. I could not get enough of this book.

Although I liked reading this book, I do think it would be a good idea to read Sicko first. A lot of the characters are in this book, and it honestly gives away a lot of the ending to Sicko! But I liked seeing where Wicked came from and seeing his back story. I'm really curious if we are getting any more in this world because this book crossed the MC and Mafia worlds together. I'm curious about what else can come out of this universe. The thing that I really like about Amo Jones's writing is that she goes to the deep end, and then you think you've seen it all, but then boom, she has ANOTHER twisted reveal that comes out of the left field every time. I really want to read more of her backlist!
