ORIGINALLY POSTED AT: http://escapetowonderland.org/2011/06/from-bad-to-cursed-by-katie-alender/

When I read Bad Girls Don't Die, I didn't think there were going to be more books because of the way it ended, there was no cliffhanger. I was so excited to see that there was going to be another book coming out.

The roles seemed to switch in From Bad to Cursed and Alexis is now the one who got caught up with a ghost and Kasey needs to save her. It's nice to see what really goes on in the person's head and to see how the ghost is manipulating them, causing all this trouble, which you didn't get in Bad Girls Don't Die. I was on edge through the whole book as the story unraveled and more secrets were revealed.

Alexis is a rebel but her character has grown so much and there is just so much more to her. With the way she was so worried about Kasey getting messed up with a ghost, I never thought she would with a ghost named Aralt.

I loved seeing how the relationship between her and Carter had grown. You can tell how much the both care about each other and how much he is willing to deal with no matter what might happen. It plays a big part in the story, but it definitely is far from the focus. I think without it, Alexis would have been worse off as she was trying to get through it all.

There are so many characters introduced and it's was cool to see such a different mix of different people coming together, even if it was because of a ghost. Alexis and Megan had grown so close and are now best friends, but maybe that isn't such a good things since Megan was tied into the last ghost and who is to say she wouldn't cause more problems for Alexis.

There was so much in the last third of the book. All the questions that had popped up are now answered, and you find out so many other things that surprise you. You get so lost in it you feel like you are there watching it all unfold in front of you. And you are left with so many more questions making you anxious to read the next book. What happened to Aralt? What is going to happen between Megan and Alexis? Carter and Alexis? Is Alexis going to be okay? And what exactly did she see at the end and what is going to come up it? I'm already itching to get my hands on the third book and I was so sad to finish this one.

I love the covers for this series. They are so beautiful and how they are just so simple. The girl gives me the creeps though. She looks evil, and like she might be possessed I think it fits the story because of how the ghost affected the girls, making them think and do evil things.

Not as good as the first time I read it. Didn't really deal with paranormal head on too much. Just a lot of "wow, my life is so great!!!!!!".

This was cool sequel I will admit. Instead of having trouble with little possessed Kasey anymore we now have a different type of possessing, but instead on Alexis and Megan. It was interesting to see the after effects on Alexis's family's life after what happened in the last book. Kasey was in a psychiatric home and had just come back from her treatment and we find ourselves living in a whole new different neighbourhood. Kasey is starting her first year of high school and all she wants to do is be normal and have normal friend. Well that's a little hard for a girl to do when she's been possessed by an old grumpy vengeful spirit. After all, everyone remembers Alexis's little sister breaking one of the most popular cheerleader's little sister's arm. Who could forget that?

While Kasey is adjusting to high school life she becomes friends with a new girl and weirdly enough, Lydia. Yeah, the weird emo girl from ALEXIS'S old group of friends. Anyways, they join this Sunshine Club where basically all of the girls, including Kasey, get turned into these amazing, beautiful, fashionista type popular girls. Alexis and Megan right away knew that something was up. I liked the friendship between those two a lot in this book. It really shown through how much last book's events bonded them together even when they were enemies just a couple months before. Alexis and Megan then have this bright idea to join the club themselves because again, they smell something fishy going on. Yeah not really a good idea considering the spirit that is turning these girls into psycho's and beauty pageant girls isn't all that perfect and innocent as he seemed. Especially with his creepy ass book.

I couldn't quite believe how serious things got towards the end and a huge twist happened that left me shocked and sad. If you don't want to get spoiled I suggest not reading the description for the next book, like at all. It ruins it on the first few sentences, so just a disclaimer and warning on that. Basically this book made a great sequel to the series and I'm really liking Alender's writing style! It was fun to read and really makes you anxious, just like the first!

p.s. I know this is in the last book review I did on this series but heres the link for the amazingly well done book trailer!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ID1jz0A8LU

The entire concept of this book intrigued me. I also feel it was completely fitting to hear about Alexis’s photography. It is in the same style as the book itself. So completely different and out of place, unlikely, that it peaks your interest and makes you want to learn more. I can definitely say I loved all of her descriptions and would be curious to see if someone could recreate those images! In the first book, Kasey is the one possessed, so although you do see some struggle once she realizes the ghost is using her for evil and is going to become violent towards her family, we don’t really understand what she is going through. In From Bad to Cursed, Alexis is possessed (I really don’t think that is a spoiler). It is so odd to see her go from being resolved to shake off the spirit’s hold on her for good one moment to being taken over the next and only having one goal- to harm or kill her family or friends. I mentioned before that it isn’t really a happy or even very concluded ending. For a while I didn’t really know what to make of it, but after some thought, I really appreciate that. I know using the term “realistic” is rather ridiculous in a fantasy book, but it really does feel more realistic to have the story end the way it does instead of having everyone go back to their jolly happy selves and being best friends forever and ever. It kind of seals up the job of working the paranormal factor into the story by showing that in a world like that, the bad things don’t all run away lickety-split when you’re onto them.

I really liked this one, very scary, but my problems were concerning how shallow and superficial the conflict was. I also thought that it could have been a little bit shorter--like there was a lot of unnecessary stuff that probably could have been cut. But I still really enjoyed it and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it!
