Syd, Rain, and Brie were inseparable since they were nine years old, growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in the California desert. When a fire is set two weeks before they graduate from high school, one of them will end up dead, one will take the fall, and the other will lie.

I’m a big fan of YA thrillers, but this one fell short for me. It had a lot of potential, and while there were things I enjoyed, overall it just didn’t compare to other YA thrillers I’ve read.

What I liked
✨Alternating POVs
✨Alternating timeline
✨friend drama, deceit

Dislikes
✨Drama got repetitive
✨slow burn & pacing
✨I couldn’t connect with any of the characters
✨the ending

All the Best Liars is a slow-burn young adult thriller about three girls who were once close, and a fire that leads to nothing ever being the same.

HO-LY COW you guys, this book was so flipping good. Definitely a slow burn (no pun intended) thriller, but filled with realistic characters and excellent plot twists.
Anyone who has known the woes of teenage female friendship will relate so hard to this book. One second you’re inseparable and the next you’re barely speaking to each other. Kahaney does an excellent job at pulling back the curtain on our greatest heartbreak- losing your best friend to someone else.
Syd, Rain, and Brie are written so exquisitely as individuals, while oftentimes also blurring that line into becoming each other.
The supporting characters in the book are also very fleshed out and it creates such an immersive world that it had me feeling the anxiety of being a teen again.
When this book opens you think everything has been laid out for you, but that is certainly not the case!!
I don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say, go pick up this book for a page turner that you won’t be able to put down!
