book fortyeight/fifytwo;
I had been waiting for this book, and when I finally got it I had to wait before I could read it. I had to read a book for studies, and also I had to study for upcoming exams. But I read a bit here and there, where ever and whenever I had time I would read at least a chapter. It didnt take long for Morganville to take over, but I still had other tings to pioritise but when there was around 100pages left I put everything on hold and finished it.

And, I dont get it, how does she do it? And that is a trick question, who am I talking about?
Well at first i meant Ms Caine, but the question can also be directed to Claire.
So back to the author, she did again. Book #13, and still super awesome! Everytime, it is interesting and just enough to satisfy as well as make you long for more. At the last 20 or so pages she had me panicked at the library wondering how the fff they were going to get out of that situation this time? But they did, and it was not a cheesy HEA, it all made sense.
And I love it when it just about works out.
And at the real ending, I wanted to fist-pump and high-five someone, but nobody was close enough. Nobody I knew that is.

Shane broke my heart in this book, but He has two books left to make it up.
And myrnin, he's just cute and fluffy all the time, isn't he?

1. Ooooh I was just kind of low-grade annoyed with Shane before but now I'm actively mad.

2. Rachel. Rachel listen to me. I have read Naomi Novik and Elizabeth Arden. I know a slow-burn immortal/mortal romance when I see one. Don't use the tropes if you think you're too good to take them to their conclusion, is all I'm saying.

really enjoyed this book, I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars as there was a point in the book where I thought 'where the hell is this going- hope it's not a just a filler book in the series' but it picked up momentum again in the last third of the book, ending was great!

Maybe it’s because of the 11th and 12th Morganville books being so good, but I was so disappointed with this one! I guess I did expect a bit of a lull after so much action, but this one seemed downright ridiculous.

As with most of the books, it really picked up in the last 100-200 pages. But I keep thinking was it enough? Sure, I enjoyed this book and I’m still loving the series overall. But compared to the recent marvels Caine has come up with, it left me feeling…kinda flat.

“It’s not your enemies who are likeliest to hurt you.”

Not all was bad about these books and as I said above, I still enjoyed it. We had a number of small plotlines happening alongside each other, which was kind of fun and made the pacing pretty quick. I also still enjoyed flicking between different characters POV.

As always, the characters were the best thing about this book. I love the main 4, and we had a new member of the Glass House that gave a completely different and fresh addition I loved. I can see Claire growing up and developing as her own person, and looking back on her at the start of the series makes me feel like I’ve really followed her journey. However, we also had some Morganville visitors which felt flat and just annoying.

“It is, always, those you trust.”

Overall, very mixed feelings about the book itself and it’s definitely the most disappointing yet for me! But I have to say, I’m still enjoying the series and I know I’ll miss it when I finish.

★★★
3 out of 5 stars

Life for the vampire and human residents of Morganville is getting increasingly difficult. With pledges being broken, nobody is safe.
Claire can’t help but resent how things are changing. Perhaps we’re meant to sympathise, but these people know the situation and willingly put themselves in stupid predicaments time after time and expect things to be okay.
With Michael and Eve married, many are becoming more vocal of their lack of support for Amelie’s way. Some ups and downs, but we pretty much get what we expect - with a minor side-line of some TV company driving round the town determined to find ghosts.
Big dramatic moments, more betrayal and rivalry amongst the vampires...

I don't know, maybe it's me, but I find myself liking the books less with every sequel. It started well, really and I loved "Glass House" but to be honest, I only keep on reading because I generally dislike to stop without knowing how it all ends. Well, after just reading the last lines of "Fall of Night" I doubt that the series will come to an end soon. You all know it should have ended with book 12, now it's said that book 15 will be the last one ... but I would be surprised if that was the case. I can't shake the feeling that Rachel Caine is dragging it all out for the money. I think after defeating the new bad guys (the people in Morganville just can't seem to get a break, huh?) something or someone else will come up and Rachel Caine could possibly come up with bad guy after bad guy until "Morganville Vampires: The Neverending Story, Part 150".
I sincerely hope that there will be an end, and soon. Because the series has long lost what intrigued me in the first place.
