BAPTISM OF FIRE was a fun and unique urban fantasy and I was pulled into the writing and Nix's "voice" right away. I enjoyed the story a lot and I especially loved the characters. Nix was a great lead, she's strong, caring, and really relatable. I also really liked Javier, he's charming and sweet and I'm hoping I wasn't imagining something starting to simmer between Javier and Nix.

I really appreciated the diverse cast and the LGBTQ+ representation; Nix is biromantic and asexual and Javier is bisexual. The worldbuilding of the pyromancers and the incendiaries was really interesting and unique though there were a few times I had some trouble following along with the action and Nix's developing powers. Right now BAPTISM OF FIRE is the only book in the series but I'm hoping we'll get more one day.
