started crying on page 4 and didn’t stop. just imagine the sheer intensity of the relationship between franz and hermann, how his father’s actions had to have impacted him, to inspire a 47-page long letter. how kafka manages so beautifully, heart wrenchingly, describe his feelings, explain his childhood and present behaviour, his fears — that is beyond me. and yet i still have such a deep understanding for all these sentiments, it’s like he took the weight off my shoulders, poured the thoughts from my mind and wrote them down on tear-stained stationery.
