I liked this book. I wanted more answers at the end, but I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for the next book to come out.

Excellent fantasy story and very well written! This is book one of a series that is a prequel to her Mortal Instruments series. I have read the Mortal Instruments but these read well enough that they can stand alone - you don't have to read the other set to understand this one. Captivating story from start to finish!

Okay seriously this book just dragged and dragged on. I almost gave up numerous time but I kept hoping it would get better, that there was a reason everywhere I went it had 5 star reviews.I just don't see it. Didn't care for where the plot was going, most of the characters annoyed the crap out of me and there wasn't much of anything going on. These shadowhunters didn't seem very good at their job descriptions.
I did like the nods to things from Clare's Mortal Instruments series(i.e the New York Institute, the Wayland guy,Church the cat....and Magnus Bane) but mehh :/
For some reason I feel inclined to continue the trilogy but probably not until I read the last book in the Mortal Instruments.

Buddy read
My quips are now showing exposition but telling through dialog. Some titles redundant. I wish she went more into the technicalities of the mechanics. Ends on cliff hanger. It should be ranked according to the series as a whole, therefore my rating is quite meaningless.
