Gee is rather inflammatory and can come across as a little rude but he has great ideas and even better explanations for why we see education in this country like we do and how we can get better. His style might be off putting to some but the work is invaluable.

An accessible exploration of why humans make bad decisions and how we can better view and use digital technology to make better ones.

This book is more concerned with offering general life advice on how to help humans utilize and make better decisions with technology than it is with students. I thought Gee's presentations of human pitfalls of stupidity was well presented and easy to access and compelling. He brings together his diverse areas of expertise (linguistics, video games, and lay Christianity) throughout the text, which I enjoyed as he intrigues me as an academic scholar. When he began to argue for people all putting their minds together with tools and "Mind Visions" I lost him a bit, but I like his vision of formal education utilizing the informal education we've seen people willingly engage in via online communities.

I'm not sure what type of person exactly I'd recommend it to; perhaps one who wants an entry-level exploration of how to improve our relationship with technology and how it could potentially be used for education.
