Didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. Maybe too many read one right after the other. Eve being so upset with Joe was just too much.

Another excellent book by Iris Johansen. I'm getting really attached to Eve. And also, this is the first time in my entire life that I've managed to read more than 3 books in a series in a row!! (Currently this is my 7th from this series!!)

I got a little creeped out by this book, mostly because a lot of the action took place in Louisiana, and I was in New Orleans earlier this year. So I could vividly imagine some of the scenes that took place in the bayou. In other books, action scenes took place in the desert or the mountains, and it's been years since I've been to either type of terrain (I live in a hilly, wooded area -- people here call the hills "mountains" but they're not like, snow-capped or anything remotely like the mountains in Wyoming etc.).

The ending had a crazy twist again, and one that I didn't see coming. Although I keep trying to figure out where Johansen is going with her plot, I don't usually guess correctly. And I LOVE that!!

The story was a little far fetched. Joe is a one-dimensional character. He is the ultimate anti-feminist and doesn't believe women (Eve) have an intelligent bone in their body. And, Eve likes him???!!!

The story was good, but not wonderful. It's unbelievable that a Cabal of this magnitude exists. But, not any more due to the workings of one diabolical man. There's enough adventure to keep the story moving forward...red herrings and all.

The ending, which I call a barf up, is narrated by a secondary character that ties up all of the loose ends into a smart little package. Even should have shot him when she had the chance! And put him out of my misery.

Loved being back with these characters and to be in the place it was set whilst reading was serendipity.
The series follows forensic sculpture Eve Duncan as she delves into cases of unknown skulls and tries to find the person for families and the police.
Fast paced and full of wrong turns, Johansen always keeps me guessing.

Just finished this book this morning. I didn't like putting it down. I wasn't sure where the book was going and that compelled me to keep going. I wasn't disapointed!
