I enjoyed the story but found some of the writing to be a bit cumbersome. He LOVES to give a lot of detail and description and I skimmed some of the more descriptive parts. Still recommend for any Connelly or mystery fans.

I was ready to start Bosch 9 when I noticed that it was Terry McCaleb #2 in the Bosch universe so being a completest felt I had to find out about this character and I was glad I did with a cracking page turner.
McCaleb is an ex FBI investigator who specialised in serial killers but retired after a massive heart attack when chasing a suspect and receives a heart transplant. When the donor's sister arrives at his boat asking for help to find the killer of the donor McCaleb is emotionally drawn into what proves to be a very intricate spiders web.
I won't say more but it had me on the edge of my set throughout and I can't wait to meet the character again especially if he and Bosch bump heads.

I saw the movie, but didn't remember until I started reading. Somehow the title didn't ring a bell. Classic Michael Connelly. Loved it.

It seems I am a little late to the party with this book. Regardless, it was a great read and introduction to a new character in the Bosch universe. A steady plot and build up keeping you glued to the pages.

So I started reading 'A Darkness More than Night', the seventh Harry Bosch novel which is also the second McCaleb book. I thought that's ok, I don't need to read the McCaleb book cause this is a Bosch book also. I was wrong. About 7% through it, it's all McCaleb so I stopped and started reading 'Blood Work'.

I am glad I did, and not just because of filling in the back, who was Gloria? Why did he get a heart transplant? It was a really good book. Now back to 'A Darkness More than Night'

Really enjoyed this story, the idea i.e. the ex-detective receiving a heart transplant and tracking down a killer was quite original I thought and led to a fast-paced enjoyable tale. Recommended!
