I really like the world building. Tte way the book flows into the next is good too.
Spoilerthe ending is heartbreaking in a classic way. OF COURSE she’s the missing queen.

I will forever love the badass female characters that Sarah J Maas creates and expresses in her novels. Celaena is such a honed weapon, and it is so cool to read the way that she works.
Spoiler I absolutely loved the romance arc with Chaol, and it was my favorite thing out of this entire book. From them both trying and failing to stay on their sides of the ‘line’ Chaol drew for himself, to their cute hangouts & runs, to the birthday scene on the rooftop, I positively ate that shit up. When she turned on him after poor Nehemia’s demise, my heart broke, and it positively shattered at Chaol’s realization that nothing was ever going to be the same. I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled a little, but my heart was so full & happy when Chaol was describing her as his future wife like ughhhhhh why couldn’t we have just kept that going… I have to say I love Fleetfoot, she is so cute! And Mort, lol. How is the king so trusting?! Dummy. I’m interested in seeing how this whole magic thing goes for Dorian, and I’m so happy the three of them have had some good(?) trio scenes again that will hopefully improve and reoccur throughout the series. Anyways, I’m not prepared to watch everything fall to shit & burn, so hopefully all the other books just detail Celaena jumping off that ship, swimming back to Chaol, & them running away together to experience a million cute lovey adventures with no pain, suffering, or heartbreak. Of course, the lands & magic would just *poof* be saved before hand, but then it’ll just be lovey-dovey, right?! I unfortunately was spoiled for the grand reveal at the end, but I am very interested in seeing how this all plays out.
I really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed the slow world building of the first half of the book, but I absolutely loved all the twists and turns of the second half. Although I did know the major twist at the end (thanks to this book series so popular for years) it didn’t take away from the details (which I didn’t know about). The last 20% of this book had my heart racing! It’s going to take me a while to recover from this...!

God... where shall I even start with this review? This is definitely an exceptional sequel! Again, please check trigger warnings before reading this book 💚

For starters, I’m still a proud Dorian and Nehemia simp and Chaol has finally found a —really small— space in my heart.

Personally, I feel like Crown of Midnight truly encompasses everything that Throne of Glass failed to accomplish. At first, Celaena felt like a poor excuse of a fantasy main character. Now? she’s finally at a good potential. I think that Celaena and Dorian are such amazing characters and I’m craving to see what SJM will do with them in the next book.

This book definitely kicks Throne of Glass to a 3 or 4 stars review.
