Started out strong, but I got a bit bogged down by the middle/end.

This book is geared way toward the corporate world and getting a team to execute projects. I think it's an interesting read, but because of that tight focus it's not all that useful for non-corporate applications. The section on deciding which ideas are worth pursuing is worth reading, though. And if you're looking for a book to help creativity in the workplace, this is probably a good bet.

I've been torn between giving this 1 or 2 stars, or 4 stars, so 3 it is. The good parts are fascinating, and I think potentially very useful to me in work and at home. Some smart techniques and interesting quotes. I may even recommend it to my colleagues.

On the other hand...it's hard for me to take seriously a book that uses "thought leader" non-ironically. And so it has a lot of that sort of thing going on: oh, look, there's Chris Anderson! Malcolm Gladwell! IDEO! etc., etc. And plenty of eye-rolling material for sure.

So if you can get past the eye-rolling, it's probably worth reading. Thankfully, it's pretty short. (I read it in an afternoon while sitting in the park.)

This book is very easy to understand, the hard thing is to practice it in reality :').
When trying a new creative things, it's 100% true that most of the times we got discouraged and tend to abandoned the project as soon as another idea appears, or what Belsky defines as project plateau.
By reading this book, it's giving a simple guidance on how to treat the creative ideas and to come into the execution phase.

Pretty much just Getting Things Done methodology for people who think they’re too creative for process.

This was written for creative types like me who tend to be better at inception than sustained execution! Too many good ideas, not enough structured perspiration to make enough of them happen. Getting a ton out of it so far.

Some great ideas on making ideas happen.

A great takeaway for me was "impact is the result of creativity multiplied by the ability to organize and then execute and idea."

The author breaks the book into three sections:
1) organization and Execution
2) The Forces of Community
3) Leadership Capability

Each section provides great insight and some very practical applications.

Я честно пытался прочитать эту книгу уже 2 или 3 раза. Но в ней настолько высокая концентрация банальностей и клише, что если там и есть что-то полезное, разглядеть его крайне сложно. Не рекомендую

First chapter is great, really tactical ideas of how to handle ideas. From there, it's some more good advice on fostering ideas and including community. But I had to stop when the last chapter was all about how to be a leader. I have no intentions of being a CEO of a tech startup, which is what it seemed to be targeted at. Otherwise, a good read, I'd say you could almost just scan the TOC and go to what you're looking for.

I got some great nuggets out of this book. Slight variation on organizational books, specifically targeted at creative types who often don't think they can (or should) be organized. Worth buzzing through if you're looking be a better project manager.
