I’m so grateful for this copy, thank you Del Rey! Howeveeeer, I was expecting a lot more from this and that ambiguous twist.

Emotionally, I almost gave this book five stars but I’m trying to be more realistic with my reviews this year sooo four it is.

While this was a beautiful concept, the writing fell a little flat and while I was emotional and even got goosebumps at the last line, the ending also fell flat.

I wish we would have gotten more on how the FMC pieced together her vignettes with the MMC’s memories. I wish we had more time with them in Verona as the present couple and that the “curse” had more of a full circle moment when it was broken instead of just an epiphany. I also feel like the drama with the ex-husband was a bit out of place in the story, with the threat of the curse looming, we didn’t need another outside force hanging over them.

A friend gave me this book, so I decided to read it even though she said it was just okay. I wanted to DNF several times.
This book had a very interesting and promising concept, so I was very interested to see where it went. I have to say that I was disappointed. First, the constant switching of story lines was jarring until you got used to it. After getting over that, the writing was pretty simple and not very engaging at times. Then, I am personally just not a fan of accidental pregnancy, so that also felt like a random addition towards the end that did not really provide the needed high-point for the story’s plot. If that was truly the pivotal moment for the book, then it should have been more of a connecting point with the reader. But the fact that things went downhill from there (when there wasn’t a great high point) was disappointing. Overall, I thought this book was mildly entertaining, but I won’t be recommending it to others.

This is a really cheesy book — too cheesy for me. BUT amidst the cheese there are some really profound thoughts and feelings about how to continue after someone you love has died and how to continue loving in the face of potential/expected grief that spoke to me and felt like a healthy outlook
