2.0

Probably more of a 2.5. I honestly have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. I really did not like Mia as a main character although I think there was some growth throughout the novel which was nice to see. My main issue comes from the fact that this book dealt with a lot of heavy topics that I wasn’t necessarily expecting (same as in Piece of Cake which I recently read); however, I felt like they were not always handled particularly well.

Ultimately, I would feel uncomfortable recommending this book to anyone and I would recommend looking into trigger warnings (these would include but may not be limited to: depictions mental health - particularly in relation to anorexia and the death of a family member). There were just too many parts of this book particularly at the beginning that made me uncomfortable and took away from my overall enjoyment of the story.
