Holly Jackson never disappoints. She ate this one. I was literally at the edge of my seat with this book, reading it every single moment I had to spare. I even stayed up till sunrise when the book started getting intense. I thought the book was predictable; my prediction being: Red had a secret, but oh this book was an onion. So many layers.

And the ending? Goodness. It hurt. Also I hate Oliver (she wrote his arc so well, I actually despise him)

The writing was beautiful, and the way Red's thoughts were incoherent, and haphazard, it was done so realistically. Like Jackson transcripted the thoughts of a real person. It was hard to get into the book at first, but it began picking up the pace quicker than I had the will to put it down.

Everyone in this book made me so mad. I genuinely did not like any of them. Although, I do admire how well Holly Jackson used this to her advantage in crafting a story that challenges the innate selfishness of humankind.

It also made me think of 'Midnight' doctor who, which is my favourite episode. So that's a plus.

Overall, not as good as Jackson's other books. But still an enjoyable, engaging, and captivating read.

Holly creating crazy endings as always!! I swear I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. I love how quickly Holly books gets into the intense moments, it really helps me get locked into the story. I will say … Oliver? What the hell? It feels like his character took a completely 180 turn around in the book. That’s the only part I wasn’t a big fan of? I mean I guess it makes sense since they are in a very stressful situation.

red's pov felt so very real; the way her train of thoughts kept getting derailed and how she tried to get herself back on track, usually it'd feel really clunky in narration but i thought it was well executed here. oliver was so infuriating
i just kept praying the sniper would get it over with and end him right there and then.
i haven't hated a character as much as i hate him in a very long time. the ending was just insane but god did i cheer loudly when
he finally fucking died!! i am pissed off i'll never know what the curtains' pattern was, it's gonna bother me for a few days i think.
the romance subplot was fine, i guess? underdeveloped for sure but it makes sense considering. overall, a good book but the plot came straight out of a wattpad mafia fic.
