Not sure I understand what exactly drives the protagonist. I'll continue thinking about this one but despite that, I continue to be in awe of Baltasar's prose.

I had to skip a couple of pages that were describing animal cruelty, but as usual Eva Baltasar’s writing is astounding. I love her novellas!

absolutely outstanding, just lost a bit towards the end. things spiralled so out of control it lost that lovely unease and mystery that Eva baltasar has. but so well written

Quite unlikable character, which I have no problem with. Be warned of a lot of animal cruelty and also body shaming.
Great writing, as always with Baltasar, but the story wasn't as strong for me as Permafrost.
Going to read Boulder next, so we'll see how I rank the books in this loose trilogy in the end.
