(This is my second time reading the book. This time, I listened to the audiobook, which is also very good.)
An easy happy ending for Catalina after the brief (possibly considered romantic) encounters with her Romeo in the previous books is obviously too good to happen, so what does Ilona and Gordon do to Alessandro?Make him a deadly assassin where the playboy persona was all a front 🤣 I live for that extra level of deception. Their interactions with each other are very funny. My favourite scene is the one with the pepper xD.
I'm no longer surprised that these authors can make me be fully on the side of the new main protag (Catalina), to the point where I'm upset with a character that I had met first (Nevada). It's cool that I'm able to see N's flaws so clearly from Catalina's point of view. They've done something similar with George in the Innkeeper Chronicles (another excellent series they've written).
The overall plot for this arc should be interesting. It's part of the find-the-missing-objects-before-it-ends-the-world trope family, but fixed in a way that makes it unique to this world 😊 The goal isn't revealed until later in the book after Catalina does the work to uncover it. A nice bit of mystery for you.
