However, that did not change the fact that this book was not pleasant. A lot of that has to do with Phillip, the love interest. He was fine during the first three chapters or so, but before the book was halfway done, I deeply disliked him, and by the time I was 2/3's done, I could not stand him.
The only reason I rated this book two stars instead of one was because there were small parts that were redeemable about this book, like Eloise's character for some parts, and when her brothers arrived and beat Phillip up. However, this book just wasn't for me, and that's not because Eloise was a different character. It's because it was a terrible romance.

Reading this after watching the show up to season 3. I think I like show Eloise better than book Eloise. And this specific book Eloise felt really out of character from the show. I know shonda makes lots of changes. And I get that she said her feelings changed after Penelope got married. But still.
Moderate: Child abuse and Suicide
