Oh Pepper. Pepper applied to her college because of Hunter, her best friends brother, who happens to have a girlfriend. Because he has a girlfriend, Pepper has never made her movie. That is until Hunter and his girlfriend break up and Pepper has a chance. What is this chance you ask? Well Pepper doesn’t know either. Pepper wants it to be like the romance novels where boys just fall in love with the lead girl. Her fascination with Hunter is scary, because she doesn’t really want Hunter. She wants the family name.

While Pepper’s life has not been constant, what has been constant is the Montgomery family, which includes Hunter. Pepper wants to be part of the Montgomery family and even though her best friend is a Montgomery, and includes Pepper as part of her family, it’s not enough for her. Also, sadly, Pepper does not have enough experience to woo Hunter and one night Pepper and her friends go out to a bar to celebrate and loosen Pepper up. What they don’t expect is gorgeous Reece to appear who is known to be the player of the town.

But is Reece everything he seems? Of course not. It’s a romance novel, we need a bit of a tense moment. Which Foreplay has plenty of. Pepper is carrying baggage and she’s a realistic college girl, what she doesn’t expect is Reece to be more than this pretty boy who will teach her about sex. I mean, that’s why she’s there right? To learn about sex. Because she wants to be ready for Hunter, who she knows even less about than Reece. Of course, as Pepper spends more time with Reece the less she cares about Hunter and the more she cares about Reece.

I never really cared for Pepper and because of that I had problems carrying about her problems. Mostly because I found her to spend so much time with this “woah is me” thing that I stopped caring and that’s okay. The joys of audiobook roulette from the library means sometimes I just pick a book and go with it and sometimes this works out and sometimes it doesn’t. What Foreplay does well though is set up a cast of characters for another two books.

The book cover does not do the contents justice; although there are sexual scenes, this book is New Adult, not erotica.

Pepper has been secretly in love with Hunter for years, and he is newly single after a three year relationship. Pepper is an innocent green-badge in the relationship department... plus she has only kissed one guy, once! She needs to experience the art of seduction from a professional to win her guy. Enter Reece... Pepper will get the education she needs, and then some.

The relationships and friendships felt very real. I enjoyed it far more than I expected. I'll be reading some more new adult fiction if this is an indication of the others in the genre.

Engaging relationship, solid writing, a fun romance to watch happen.

Dont get me wrong. It was a pleasant read, but I felt like the plot didn't develop as much as it needed to. It all happened so fast and the attatchments didnt seem.... I don't want to say genuine, but it was just like instead of developing characters or chemistry there was a rush to get to the intimacy. The final outcome was predictable, but I enjoyed reading and enjoyed the lightness of Sophies writing style.

This book is only graced with a 3 star rating because of Reece. All other characters, including Pepper herself were so god damn annoying and irrelevant.

This story drew me in. It was really well written, and I'm not usually a fan of New Adult series. It convinced me to complete the rest of the series.
