Something about these keep drawing me in, though the writing is actually kind of a mess at times. It's repetitive as if the author doesn't write in order (I don't so I can spot it) but he doesn't go back and fix what he said earlier to not repeat the same thing. But the characters are good and the narration is fantastic. I didn't even like this one til half way through. I started it, stopped and read something else for a bit, then went back to it. I dunno. I keep going back though. :/

The story is starting to get a little formulaic, but I still find the universe and plot fascinating. Solid 4 stars.

Joe and Skippy find themselves on a mission to try to save the world again. Joe's previous actions are questioned. Finding him unfit to lead a crew, they attempt to bar him from going on the mission. At least until Skippy forces their hand. He disables a ship and refuses to fix it until it's agreed that Joe goes on the mission too.

My fiance and I really enjoyed this one. We've enjoyed the series very much. The wit and banter completely made the story. I mean the adventure was great too, but yeah. I liked the perspective of the humans that are left on the planet. It's nice to know they were okay. They even found a way to start growing crops and making trades. They are slowly doing what it takes to make their new territory home.

I seriously adore Joe and Skippy. They have this dynamic. We get to the point where Joe has these moments where he has this great idea and it irritates Skippy to no end that we predict now. Sometimes it's hard to remember that Skippy isn't an actual human. The best way I can describe Skippy is an AI Sheldon. I can't unsee that now.

Like the first two books, this book was narrated by R.C. Bray. I don't have any complaints about his narration. I'd love to listen to other books he narrates. I'm kind of worried that his voice won't be the same. I think he'll do an amazing job. I just feel like he becomes Joe when he narrates. It's amazing. I'm going to be listening to the rest of the series because of how amazing he does!

I have really enjoyed this series so far. I don't even know how to explain it. My fiance loves the series as much as I do. If not more. We are looking forward to getting our hands on the rest of the series. We are looking to get our fix of more Skippy and Joe banter. If I'm being honest, I'm also scared to see the series end as well! I fully recommend this series. My fiance does too.

I am loving this series. So far the first three books have been exactly what I needed to read right now. Skippy is one of if not my absolute favorite literary character. In this book they find more ways to have hilarious things happen with Skippy while at the same time having real suspense and danger for the crew and the humans on Paradise.

This is a continuous story, book 2 picks up right where 1 leaves off so please go start with book 1. You will be completely lost as to who the various alien species are and the danger to earth and so on. The stories are good with more than a dash of humor while also having some hard sci-fi thrown it. In other words fantastic! I am now a huge fan of Craig Alanson. I love that there are a bunch of these books so the next month I will get to just soak in this awesome series.

Overall humorous and entertaining, with some repetitive elements. Skippy+Joe are such a great pairing and almost every interaction had me laughing.
