Originally at The Secret Life of a Bookworm

Forgiven was a brilliant sequel to Forbidden. After everything that went down in that book I was pretty excited to see what was in store for Riley next. She has a target on her back from Heaven and Hell and Riley is the only one who can stop the battle between them.

Riley is one of the most badass characters ever. She's the only female trapper but she doesn't let that stop her. She's one of the best trappers too (which makes her even more awesome!). She's so stubborn and feisty and I just adore her spirit. She's very determined to show that she has what it takes and she has so much on her shoulders for such a young girl, but she manages.

Beck is amazing! Sure, he can be an ass sometimes, but he's only trying to protect Riley. You could totally tell that Beck's feelings for Riley had grown and I was desperately waiting for those two to just get together! Both of them are so damn stubborn that they refuse to admit their feelings. But I just adore Beck so much. He's constantly looking out for Riley and helping her, and he's so sweet!

After what had happened in the previous book I was hoping Ori was gone for good, but no, he still managed to worm his way back. Although he did kind of redeem himself in this one I still want to punch him for what he did in the previous book.

The story line was packed full of action yet again. With Heaven and Hell on the brink of war, the demons rampaging out of control and the Vatican Hunters in Atlanta - the trappers definitely had a lot on their plate. There was never a dull moment in this book for me and I was engrossed in this book from start to finish!

Overall, this was such an amazing book and I really enjoyed it! If you haven't started the Demon Trappers series yet, it's one that I definitely recommend!

Beck, why do you have to fuck everything up?!

My little Beck/Riley heart can't take this...

Always brilliant. There aren't many book series where I love each book as much as the other. I really wish this series would get more known because it really is very good. :)

I have come to really like, no love, this series. It started off decent, but not the best, and then turned into something amazing and addictive. It just gets better with every book, and Forgiven is definitely the best in the series.

Riley has grown a lot since the first book. She was pretty awesome from the beginning, but she was definitely a lot stronger in this book. She has made mistakes in the past, but she learned from them and that made her a better person, which is something I really appreciate.

And Beck. I love Beck. A lot. He is deeply scarred with a past that we still don't know a lot about. But he is still very sweet and protective of Riley. He can also kick-ass when he needs to. He, too, has made mistakes, not all that we know about.

What I love about this series is that it's so unique. I love all the different types of demons and monsters in this book. It never fails to suck me into this world.

Oh, the ending. It about ripped my heart out. If it's any indication to the next and final book in this series, I needed the next book yesterday.

Overall, clearly the best book in the series. It's action packed and unique and I love the characters. I can't wait to read the final book in this series.

Forgiven is the third book in The Demon Trappers Series by Jana Oliver. It's one of my favourite series, and let me tell you - each book just gets better and better.

I absolutely adored this book - and although I'm in a bit of a reading funk at the moment - when I did actually sit down to read for longer than ten minutes, I flew through the pages. I loved jumping right back into Riley's demon trapping world, and all the action and drama is so exciting, and despite having read the previous book in the summer of last year, I felt as if I had never left.

As usual, Riley was awesome. She's possibly one of my favourite heroines in YA fiction - she's kick-ass, determined and great fun to read about. She really seems like a real teenager, and living in the conditions and situations that she does must be hard, she still finds the time to add just enough snark and sass to the book to lighten the sometimes depressing scenarios (like all the huge demon fight scenes) in which the characters find themselves in.

Her relationship with Beck remains one of my favourite aspects of this book, but at the same time, I hate it. It is possibly the most frustrating relationship in the history of all relationships... AHH they annoyed me SO much. It's completely obvious to absolutely everyone, yet neither character can admit to themselves that they've fallen for each other, and fallen hard.

Speaking of Beck, I love the guy he became in Forgiven. It wasn't that he was different, exactly, but I feel like he's matured a lot and gotten older in the short time in which the book is set. We learn a lot more about him, and I felt he finally gave up some of his pride and admitted things to both himself and to Riley that made him a lot more vulnerable, yet also stronger, in the long run.

The plot, I think, was definitely the best of the three books so far. Right from when it starts on page 1, the action is non-stop, fast-paced and exciting. There's a whole load of demon fights and traps, a huge range of relationship drama and even a battle between Heaven, Hell and the Human Race. There wasn't a single moment when I got bored or I felt the story lagged in momentum - it was all awesome.

All in all, Forgiven was a great addition to The Demon Trappers Series. It's definitely one of my all-time favourites, and I can't wait to read the conclusion, Foretold, when it comes out in August. If you haven't started this series yet, why not?! I'd most definitely recommend to all fans of YA paranormal and dystopian (as it sort of is both), or if you're looking for a fast, exciting read to keep you entertained for hours.

This bored me. Meh.

Forgiven begins where the previous book left us, with people hunting for Riley, and Riley's dad being reanimated. I liked the first book well enough to read the second, and I found that the second book was brilliant! I really enjoyed it, and was really looking forward to reading this book because I was so interested in finding out what happened next. Unfortunately, Forgiven didn't meet my expectations after such a good second book.

The plot was kind of boring in this book, there was a lot of getting from Point A to Point B without there being much substance. The romance aspect takes over the action and plotting, and it really irked me. I know Beck and Riley care for each other - even if they're both too frustratingly stubborn to say anything - but I wanted more fighting and more demons rather than scenes of the two of them bickering constantly over nothing.

Riley and Beck also really annoyed me in this book. I wasn't a huge fan of Beck in the first book, but in the second he started to grow on me. I was hoping to like him even more in this one now that he had come to terms with his feelings - even slightly - but that just wasn't the case.

The pair of them whined about each other SO MUCH; it was beyond frustrated. Every page there were at least a couple of mentions of Beck (when reading from Riley's point of view) and what she thought he would think of her. Excuse me? Why do you care so much what he thinks of you? If he judges you then that's his problem. Come on, you're meant to be a fierce protagonist!

It was the same case with Beck and his point of view, except he annoyed me even more. He was so angry all of the time! I couldn't handle the complaining from him or Riley, so in the end I had to skim those bits. There was too much complaining and no character growth, and after reading about the same stuff throughout three novels now, it got old fast.

I did enjoy reading about Riley's father's reanimated. He was sweet, I guess.

This book leaves you on a little bit of a cliffhanger, which I think those of you who like the romance and relationship between the two of them will enjoy, but it didn't leave me intrigued. I couldn't wait to put this book down, I'm sorry to say, and I am not interested in continuing with the series any more.
