Loved it! I loved the sarcastic and witty main character, loved that it contained "teaching" while still being fun. I think my kids will love this in a few years.

Damn it’s done!

I really really really loved this book. All the kids in this book are so awesome and nice and I can absolutely understand why these books are such a cult hit.

I must admit that at first I was a little worried that the language would feel a bit juvenile, because I am not exactly the age this is targeted too.

Luckily, it didn’t bother me at all. Obviously, the language is easier, but that made the book very light to read and nicely fast paced. My jaw still dropped at the reveal of the culprit and started beating faster at the final revelation in the last 10 pages (even though I may have predicted it beforehand).

I also think that reading this at age 20 gives me a different view on the story than someone who read it when they were, say, 13. To me, the story is more lighthearted (especially because I read the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo before this heh) and perhaps all the events are a little bit conveniently happening, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. Again, I’m not the target audience, so these things must be put into perspective.

I am thrilled to start the second book following this one, and I hope that one will be just as good as this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I was a little distracted by being unable to help myself comparing it to Harry Potter, but about halfway through I gave that up.

The story itself was quick, exciting and easy to read. I loved Greek and Roman mythology as a kid, so it was very comfortable to re-visit it. I was surprised at how much I remembered with very little prodding!

I am really looking forward to the next book, and am glad my son has them so I wont need to wait.
