I liked this one better than the first. There are more characters to let us explore the world and give the FMC more people to interact with. There is also more explanation of the magic elements and gives hints of where the story is going. (Minor spoiler) It finally explains Romeria's stealing success as being part of her magic because it was mostly non-existent in book one.
