Another great installment in the Mira James series. These books get better and better. I wanted a bit more info about the girl in the window, but it was still a great book. My copy is headed to Texas where a friend is very anxiously awaiting it! : )

Jess Lourey is one of my favorite authors, and this journey started with her Murder-By-The-Month mysteries, featuring Mira James, Mrs. Berns and the cast of Battle Lake, Minnesota. I laughed out loud about 10 times, which never happens, and stopped and admired a witticism and a turn of a phrase another 10 times. Very clever, very witty, and tells a good story.

January Thaw is a cozy little mystery but left me wanting more. Apparently, this is part of a series which the story will remind you of throughout as many things and or character relationships are referenced to previous times . I felt no connection with the MC, Mira, and/or side characters although Mrs. Berns did make me chuckle a couple times. As far as the mystery goes, it’s pretty straightforward in investigating a mysterious death. There’s nothing really new or exciting going on here. Our MC is the local librarian and has solved several mysteries before in this little town. Perhaps I may have liked this more had I read its predecessors but unfortunately this didn’t grab my attention enough to make me want to read the others.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing this to me in exchange for an honest review.

An ice-skating jaunt gets even more chilling for private investigator in training Mira James, as she’s just locked eyes with a frozen corpse floating under a sheet of ice. To solve it, Mira follows a trail leading to the alleged haunting of a historic museum and a centuries-old tragedy that has yet to claim its final victim.

By now, this series has become a comfort read for me! And it has become a bit of tradition to read the correct book in the right month.

As usual, Mira unluckily stumbled upon a dead body while minding her own business. This January mystery involved an old case and an anonymous body from the last decade. It was intriguing, super fun and even a bit creepy. I loved it. The audiobook was performed perfectly (as always) by Jennifer Jill Araya, who I’d forever associate with Mira.

I still think Johny was too good to be true, and apparently Mira also thought so in this one. I did enjoy the scenes he was in, albeit not many. This was another winner in my book. Can’t wait to read the next month’s!
