it’s been a while since i’ve read a book with such a level of prose and intimacy.
reading this book felt like a long poem, the words going through a stream of clear water. filled with water and rebirth symbolism, i could just not get over how insanely gorgeous this read was. i also adore reading books and knowing just which ones of my friends would adore it.
what a lyric of a novel.

Brilliantly written—so articulate, so existential. Read this carefully; it’s incredibly lucid and can be difficult to follow
Moderate: Infidelity and Death of parent

Really felt like I was inhabiting and swimming around in someone’s brain which was pretty cool especially with someone as off-putting, complex, and captivating as joana. But damn I’d never read a stream of consciousness book before and this shits tough. Like enjoyed it most on a sentence-by-sentence level But it was difficult to read a lot at a time. But if I only read a little I’d lose the thread of what was being talked about and I’d have to go back a lot.
Even so it still features some excellent, entrancing and sometimes disturbing lines just like I loved in Hour of the Star. Makes ya stop in ur tracks!
