I have serious mixed feelings on this book. On one hand, I felt like the internal depiction of an eating disorder was very accurate, especially with the obsession with rules. On the other hand, Im so sick of ED books where the eating disorder becomes supernatural, even if starvation induced psychosis is somewhat common. This book also got me wondering, is accuracy always a good thing? Yes, a key part of many peoples anorexia is to create and follow a strict set of rules, but sharing the protags rules seemed somewhat unnecessary and could be harmful as someone very well might try to follow them.
Anyway, I was going to give this a 4/5 but the ending really sucked. so 3/5 it is

i thought the book was pretty good. definitely not what i expected. i liked how it it represented the lgbtq but also boys with eating disorders. overall pretty good book but a pretty dark topic for teenagers.

slow start but excellent finish; had me worried for a bit there that there was going to be some weird subtextual message about self-harm giving you super powers but that was resolved nicely. address some very important topics obviously personal to the author.
