It is extremely touching and courageous of the author to share his past experiences including racism and "simple" criticism for how he chose to live as a child. This gives charge to everything he has shed light upon in this novel. This is also such a balanced mix of spiritual and self-development, he was right towards the end of the work where he mentioned Aristotle, everything happens for a reason, life happens through and for us, and we go through rough patches and "tests" not because we are weak but because we are strong and need to be shown this capability within ourselves through the "rough" patches in our lives to gather greater appreciation for the joyful and intentional moments.
