This one was my favourite book in the series. Really liked the second chance aspect. Emma and Cassidy were totally ❤.

Another smart, sexy, light, funny book from Lauren Layne.

Emma is the newest member of the group of 4 columnists at Stiletto magazine. She moved to NYC 7 years before following a disastrous almost-wedding. And who does she find at Oxford, the brother magazine? Her almost-groom, Alex Cassidy, of course.

This missed getting a 4th star because I was bothered by one thing. And I'll attempt to do this without spoilers. After remembering the horrible events at her rehearsal dinner 7 years ago (and the reader learning the full details for the first time), she and Alex get together about 24 hours later. Now I know it was 7 years for them, but it was just the previous chapter for us, and I wasn't ready to move on quite that quickly. (And that wasn't a spoiler - you KNEW they'd get together.... )

Cover: He seems to have lost his shirt in this one...

Narrator: Same as the 3 previous books in the series. As I mentioned earlier, her men aren't great. They all sound like their teeth are clenched.

Hogwarts Sorting Hat: This is another one where the houses are a little sketchy. But I think Alex would be a good Slytherin and Emma is a Hufflepuff. In this book. In the previous books that aren't about her, she has some Slytherin in her...

Themes: magazines, NYC, 2nd chances

this was a cute office romance and also the author hit the right spot with the trope choice. Second chance romance was and will always be one of my fav tropes. I liked the plot's development and how the other characters in the series made an appearance.

Fuck me bro okay ignore the cringe cover but this was soooooooo good I ate it up so bad I can't even get started. This was recommended to me and I love a good second chance romance and I loveeeee when it's all angsty I love it I love it I loved these people (even tho I haven't read any of the other books in this series) and I loved them. I cried so hard near the end unsure if its because I'm sensitive or if it's just that good. A classic in my library.
