Robin Cook

Ohhhhhh my! If any of the other books are as good as this one in the series, I'm about to be deep diving into this author's backlog.

The only reason I docked a star was the allllll the extra information was too time consuming.

Robin Cook really is excellent for some quick read trash fiction. I liked this one particularly due to the use of current trendy medical topics such as gene sequencing, and the possible use of 23 and Me (& similar services) to solve crimes. COMA will probably always be my favorite, but Robin Cook still delivers.

Fun and quick medical thriller. But listen, so predictable. If you are willing to look past that part of it, then it is worth reading about the DNA forensics.

I was hoping giving Robin Cook a second try would go better, and I would have a new thriller author to read. These medical thrillers are just not medical enough for me, and I feel like I can see the end coming miles away, which is not something I usually have a problem with. The fact that this is book 12 of Jack Stapleton & Laurie Montgomery also killed any hope I had that she would leave her immature husband who expects her to do all the domestic work in addition to having a more demanding job than him, while he plays basketball and is too emotionally immature to handle parent teacher meetings. I was hoping Cook was going somewhere with that, but I fear he was not. Similarly, the man-hating brilliant female med student he introduced here had promise, but I suspect she was going to turn into a stereotype of someone who had a few bad experiences and wrote off the whole male gender, but then learned the error of her ways when she met some kind men....just boring gender stuff. I wasn't interested enough to find out if I was wrong.

I really liked it out the jump but the ending felt really rushed and dare I say, easy? Also the perpetrator was so lazy in description and just forced. One paragraph explaining their why and then they go on to try and do the crime again.

very odd find. overall i liked it and was invested in the story but i can’t pinpoint why as i have no interest in  pathology or genealogy and the book was heavily focused on those two fields. the big aha moment was kind of lame but the final plot twist had me fully surprised.

Good book. I didn't realize it was a series. Really don't like the husband.
