Confronting and often heartwrenching, The Woman in Me is an eye-opening read.
I was born in the late nineties, growing up Britney Spears was one of the biggest stars in the world. Media coverage about her was constant and often unkind.
Hearing what it was like for her was heartbreaking.
I'm angry about how she was treated. I followed the free Britney movement and the end of her conservatorship.

I think that the Womanhood angle was discussed in a bit of a clunky was in the final section which is the main reason this isnt a 5 star. It is a very valuable story to be shared.

Papparazzi and the Media are still guilty of some of the toxicity that Britney was the target of but it is a relief to see the progressive destagmatisation of mental health/postpartum depression.

I hope she finds peace. While at times her Instagram feed makes me uncomfortable I know she is taking back the control of her own image.

This was an informative book that was decently written but sometimes confusing bc it felt like the timelines didn’t align at times. (For me, it was easy tell that it was written by 2 people bc of the distinct writing styles). I love Britney and at the end of the day, I’m just glad she’s free of that awful conservatorship!!

Absolutely unreal of everything she was forced to be put through. What a powerful woman to not only overcome her trauma, but to be brave enough to share with the world.

The writing was not great, but I enjoyed hearing her story in her own words. I jumped between the audiobook and the book. Michelle Williams was the perfect narrator for the audiobook. At times, it was difficult to read about how Britney was forced into a conservatorship and was unable to make decisions about her body, personal life, and career. The way her children were used as tools to manipulate her was painful to read. This was a fast read and reminded me of I'm Glad My Mom Died at times (in terms of the story, not the writing).

As Cara Cunningham wisely said– leave Britney alone 🗣️

I very much appreciate the chronological order of this memoir. It was so easy to follow along and Britney did a wonderful job sharing her story. I enjoyed the choice of Michelle Williams as the narrator, although I cringed each time she said any wh- word or tour. You deserve happiness and peace Britney, I hope you find it ✨

I feel like Britney excluded many things in her life in this book, but it's definitely difficult to relive painful memories and that is definitely understandable. It's a good memoir to understand what she went through with her life, and the way Britney writes is filled with emotion and honesty.

Covers Britney Spears's life and career, with particular focus given to her experiences in the spotlight, her strained relationship with her family, and the conservatorship she lived under for over a decade.

I found this to be a fast-paced, streamlined autobiography that gave an interesting insight into Spears's life and how she'd been forced by both the media and the conservatorship to live a strange life in which she was treated as somewhere between child and woman, not capable enough to manage her own affairs but capable enough to be exploited. She makes for a sympathetic subject.

I listened to this book as an audiobook which is narrated by Michelle Williams. I thought she did an excellent job in capturing Spears's voice and delivered an emotional performance.
