This book was a brilliant read, Harper and Nico were characters that I fell in love with. Harper was new to Orchid Beach, having moved there for a new job with the local hockey team, Nico was a key member of that hockey team, they meet in a bar and hit it off. The development of their relationship was extremely well written especially considering they both worked for the same organisation which had a non-fraternisation policy and it was interesting reading how long they could keep their relationship secret. Thank you to Cali for the eARC in return for this review.

** ARC REVIEW **
Honestly, if I could give this book more than five stars, I would. Cali has once again written a fantastic book. I seriously cannot get enough of her writing!
This book follows Nico — pro hockey player, and Harper — photographer (for Nico’s team). Both of them were only looking for a fun casual hookups until they both were thrown into the deep end when they fall for each other.
I loved EVERYTHING about this book. From the lil small town vibes, to the very obvious forbidden romance. This book had the perfect blend of sports, spice, and a teeny tiny itty bitty splash of suspense (you’ll see once you read the book)!
There was a few moments that can/may be triggering to some so please be aware of that while reading this book!!
This book was a quick and easy read. But don’t let the cute discreet covers fool you

Nico meets Harper in a night club, they then find out that she is the new photographer for his NHL team and they are not allowed to date - but the do ;)
I struggled through this book. The characters are a bit one dimensional and they are basically in love from the get go. Why? Nobody knows. They barely knew each other.
They were cute with each other, I give them that. But it was all happening too fast.
“I couldn’t let myself get involved with him on a personal level and I felt like we were already toeing that line.”
Honey, you just hooked up, you jumped over that line already.
Her whole “we can’t put a label because I will lose my job” was getting on my nerves rather quickly. In the end, she does get fired but is actually happy about it because now she can follow her real passion - okay, good for you girl, but then you were just being difficult all along for no reason.
General question, is it an American thing that dating at work is so strictly forbidden?
In the end Nico has to meet with an old friend of his and it is really, really urgent. However, this does absolutely nothing to the story and it just seems that the author wanted to introduce this character, Malakai, who also happens to have his own book.

I feel like you have to be quite skilled to pull off insta love and this was more like a first draft.
“He stepped into his black Mercedes “
“A dream I’d dreamt”
No tension and weird things like him showering after he got home from a game— why isn’t he showering in the locker rooms? That’s strange!

Cali has sky rocketed into being one of my top favorite authors ever! No matter what she writes, I'm sucked it and stuck till the very end! Nico and Harpers' story has everything you could ask for ! Angst, secrets, spice , swoony male, and take no crap chick! As always, this is an easy 5 star read for me ! 10/10 recommended
