The book that the HBO show "From the Earth to the Moon" if based on; a wonderful look at the amazing effort which resulted in the moon landings. When you are done with this book, you will be in awe that we ever pulled it off. Definately not a dry history book.

I definitely recommend this book if you have not read any of the many books written by the astronauts. There is enough source material that no one book/movie can include it all.
This book brings together all of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo mission in one narrative.

Took me a long, long time to get through this one. I read more than I ever thought I would about the Apollo missions, and most likely will retain little of it. It was a great read for space nerds, glad I read it.

This is an exhaustive, but not exhausting, look at all the Apollo missions from the ill-fated Apollo 1 fire in January 1967 to the forlorn Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. The author provides one of the most up-close human-face looks at the Apollo program I’ve read anywhere. He wrote this to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, so some of the material regarding astronaut biographies is outdated. But otherwise, this is an excellent entertaining look at the personalities, egos, personal struggles, triumphs, and tragedies of the men who flew the Apollo missions and many on the support teams who helped make it possible.
