Where I even start??? This book is PHENOMENAL.

The only problem was I didn’t have enough free hours in the day to finish it in one sitting.

Evelyn is… wow… a work of art. Incredibly intelligent, acutely in tune with the reality of the world and the people in it, beautiful, seductive, enticing, and so much more.

Yes, of course, she is flawed. She made lots of mistakes. But I truly believe her good intentions drove her decisions, even if they didn’t work out as she planned.

*But wow.. to truly understand the world and the people in it including all of their motives and exactly what they want.. that is such a skill. AND… how to use it to her advantage knowing good and well if she just sits there looking pretty she won’t get anywhere in life, because life is unfair and favors those who know how to play the game.*

So she played the game.

I really loved the inside look at Old Hollywood. I loved being immersed in that time period including all the glamour and luxury but also all the scandals and how calculated everything had to be.

I highlighted more quotes in this book than I’ve ever highlighted before. I swear there was an incredible life lesson or powerful revelation in every chapter.

AND THE SUSPENSE AT THE END OF EVERY CHAPTER OH MY GOD. It wasn’t the annoying cliff hangers either… it truly just kept me SO immersed in the story.

TLDR: an absolute must read.

first, Evelyn sucks. I enjoyed all the LGBTQ aspects of this story & the tragedy of not being able to come out due to the time in history was sad but damn. She could’ve spent her whole life with Celia but was too self absorbed and selfish. Also big plot twist towards the end. 4/5 but only bc I loved Celia & Harry. Also 7 husbands? Ma’am.

It is pretty wild to think that no one really knows what goes on behind the scenes of celebrities lives. They only show us what they want us to see.
