Amazing. I read this book in two days because I couldn’t put it down. I started after EVERYONE was talking about it and I got curious, even though I did not expect much given the title. Oh I was wrong, I was so wrong. It’s a must-read. It’s beautiful, sad, emotional, and heartwarming all at once. And it’s very surprising.

"When you're given an opportunity to change your life, be ready to do whatever it takes to make it happen. The world doesn't give things, you take things"

Reading 'The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' is one of my favourite reading experiences to date. It made me, laugh, it made me smile with complete joy, it made me cry, it made me angry and it completely consumed me from start to finish. I adore Evelyn Hugo and her life, I want to have known Evelyn Hugo, I want to have been a part of her life. I want to read more and more about her. The exploration of fame and Hollywood, sexuality, self acceptance, race, religion, sexism, friendship, family, abusive relationships and so much more is nothing short of perfection.

Taylor Jenkins Reid has such an interesting structure to her writing and I very much enjoy it. Both of her books that I have read so far have been an interview structure with dual timelines. It is such an interesting, clever way to write, I find it to immerse the reader in such a profound way. I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Thoughts:
The more I thought about the story as a whole, the more my rating dropped lol but If you would’ve asked me while I was reading the story, I would’ve given it a 5*. I feel like the ending was somehow… lackluster. I don’t know why to be honest, probably because I was just not ever invested in Monique as a character. Or maybe I just expected so much.

Connor’s name just reminds me of Connor Murphy but I love the way motherhood was portrayed.
Evelyn was such an interesting character to read. I devoured this book because of her.
I don’t like Celia that much but the nice parts of their relationship was pretty cute.
