I enjoyed this book more than the first volume in the series. Each character really start to flesh out and each of their stories start to become interesting. I am glad some characters really had their time to shine. The events which occur throughout the book really change what is going on, for better or for worse. I'd write some more, but I don't wish to spoil any twists in the story.

I'll probably start "A Sea of Swords" right away.

A Clash of Kings is the second book to A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.

The main story involves the claims and subsequent battles of multiple kings in Westeros as they seek the Iron Throne.

GRRM does a wonderful job expanding on the elements he laid out for us in book one. We have an expansion of POVS, deeper world building, shifting of alliances, engaging politics, war, compelling morally gray characters and so much more.

The pacing is generally slow, maybe even slower than A Game of Thrones but I thought it was just right for what was covered.

Can't wait to continue in the series.

Complicated and convoluted but still brilliant. Pretty freaking depressing though, and so far left to go.
