This could be in the same book family tree as "Plain Bad Heroines" when it came to the atmosphere and set up for the story. Toxic queer obsession in this book feels different because it is mutual and reliant on us not knowing what happened with Alex. I feel like the book truly ramped up with the reveal of Ellie's past and the gun.
The book built enough distrust in Felicity by the end of all the reveals about Alex that I did think she killed Clara. The ending felt a little too clean and I thought Felicity was going to kill her girlfriend at the end.
