What I like and feel most frustraed about is that this is the second part of a three part book the trilogy is one whole book not three seperate books so neither the first nor the second end on a satisfying note.
What I did like about this book is that it starts with Lyra, a girl we have become acquainted with from another world, meeting Will, a boy from our world. Bringing the fantasy into our own reality was surreal and interesting. I like Will, and his very pressing day-to-day concerns, his practicality.
Weird like the Wizard of Oz, magical like Harry Potter, and interesting, unlike "Chronicles of Narnia."

4.5 I think Pullman is a beautiful writer… not as good as the golden compass, most of the book was building up to the finale that I assume is the third book. Some twists involving characters that I really cared about (and normally I don’t get super attached to fictional characters).
