Not a book I'll want to reread over and over, but it was distracting enough.

And I won't soon stop thinking that Brie = Merida from Brave

1. Red curly hair
2. Surrounded by magic
3. Desperate to not get married "I'll be shooting for my own hand."

3.39!

I heard people saying that if you liked acotar or from blood and ash try this and honestly it was nothing like to except for the faerie part.

The writing was not for me I mean it was addictive in the sense that you would want to complete it but you'd constantly think that this book could be written in much more better way.

The characters Finn had no personality im sorry but he didn't. I liked Ronan but I didn't quite understand what he really was trying to do. His actions were questionable and brie was eh not the strongest FMC.

Magic system I liked. The bonding system, potion of life, the turning point it was really well written.

World building wasn't there just a little bit of it.

Romance. I hate love triangles and like most books I hated it in this too. Love triangles is a really hard trope to write and authors should only write it if they feel they can fully achieve it.

The betrayals were eh as well didn't have me shocked. I liked red queen's better. The plot on the other hand I enjoyed quite alot.

It would've been lower BECauSE there were things that I didn't like more than the things that I did like but I still enjoyed it alot so I am keep it at a 3.39!

The sequel better redeem itself!

“Where do you think legends begin, if not from truth?”

Soo I have to admit that starting this book had me super excited (because I really felt like I was in the mood for a new Fae/faries book) but definitely a bit scared as well because; Love triangle, hmmm. It’s such a tricky trope to me haha. I either love or it Hate it, with the latter happing more often than not. But this book did me in! It was such a great read and the romance, the love triangle, was addictive from beginning till end and left me mind blown.

This book is the mellowed out YA version of A court of Thorns and Roses x Cinderella x lots of other familiar ya fantasy stories haha. Romance wise especially, I’d say: If you loved ACOTAR, you’ll definitely enjoy this book.

This story has so much great elements; it has Fearie lands, it has darkness, magic, it has morally grey characters, it has intense and swoony romances present and it has an engaging and addictive writing style which wraps it all up very very nicely.

It also has a lot of familiar things, and it therefore isn’t really unique/original. There’s your typical clichés present; a young human girl discovering she’s more than meets the eye, the typical good guy you can’t help but swoon over and the typical bad guy you Definitely can’t help but fall in love with haha (FINN FINN FINN, is all I’m saying *insert swoony sigh*), there’s family secrets, dead parents and a curse… But when a story is this entertaining I don’t mind one damn bit there’s lots of clichés present haha. This is that kind of ya fantasy book I just absolutely love losing myself in. It was so incredibly fast-paced and it leaves me craving the next installment so much already. July 2022 can’t come soon enough - if I’m not lucky enough to be granted an e-arc through Netgalley… because requesting that e-arc was the first thing I did after finishing this book haha.

“No matter how hopeless I feel, there's always a little more hope inside me. No matter how faithless I think I am, there is always something to believe in.”

This book was a bad amalgamation of ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, and The Selection, and despite being a combination of those popular titles, there’s nothing substantial to show for it.

I’m not sure what could’ve been done to make this book interesting. A competent main character maybe? Love interests that weren’t boring? A more engaging plot? All the above?

Either way, I’m glad to be done with this book. 😪
