I enjoyed this read mostly because one of the POVs, Eddie, was basically living my dream. In a sprawling camp in the woods with her chosen family leading retreats for other women in the 1970s. I found her story more interesting than the present day Rowan, who is on a getaway in the Adirondacks with her fiance, learning he may not be everything she hopes he is.

Overall, I enjoyed the two points of view that kept things moving. And I'm a sucker for stories of women finding their agency. Throw in the Adirondacks as a setting and I'm in. I wish the characters had been more three dimensional, but it was a quick and easy read with a compelling enough plot and a little mystery. A good summer read to laze away the afternoon heat!

I really enjoyed this book, it was different from what I usually read but I liked that.

It lost me at the end when Rowan decided to not keep any of the treasure. It felt unrealistic for someone struggling to make ends meat, and like judith said, that was Eddies intention.

Karma Brown was on our podcast and mentioned she was working on this book. It didn’t disappoint. This book is about the wild woman archetype and Eddie is the perfect representation in my opinion. I wish she was real and I wish her Wild Women camp existed so I could attend. I love all the nature and bird references, but mostly I loved the thoughts and feelings it evoke to stay true to my wild women. There is more to this story than meets the eye.
