A lot going on here. Not easy to keep up with the first book, but I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thoroughly enjoyable. I need. to. know. more. about this world!

Reread: November 27, 2019
This is a fun book, but I’m not that interested in Alice and Jane. I’m way more interested in the Farmers and the Misguided and their time war. I want to hear more about that part. Reading the second book now. We’ll see how much more I get.

There was too much crammed into too small a space (novella vs book).

It had great promise, but the execution left a lot to be desired. And the ending was incredibly unsatisfying. Yeah, I know, there's another one (novella? book?) coming out. I may give it a go, just to see if it gets any better, but I'm not particularly excited about it.

The primary problem was that I did not feel any connection to any of the characters.

This is an interesting take on time travel with some interesting women at the core of the story, but it ultimately left me a little cold.

Confusing. Sometimes time travel erases your memories along with history, except when it doesn't. Or history is erased but your memories aren't. Or vice versa. Or something. If you write in a journal (on paper, although why paper is essential is never explained) and hide it physically in the past, then you can remember things about the past that you wouldn't otherwise remember, even if those things never happened because history was changed sometime in the future. Or the past. Um. I never understood the difference between Farmers and Misguideds; both groups interfere with history in an attempt to change it. And apparently EEG scanners can identify Farmers, Misguideds, and neutrals, although how a heart scanner can identify ideological distinctions is never explained. I liked the female highwayman, though.

This story ends just as it gets going, but I guess that's the new style with novellas.

Georgian women in tech and highway robbery meet a time traveler intent on setting the future "right".
I loved this adventurous novella, and can't wait to see what Alice and Jane are up to in the sequel.
