Lucas Swain favenya Mami Dian :D

[hammer]

Terbitin yang John Medina dong

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Howard. I got to know and like the characters, enjoying watching their adventures throughout the story. And it didn't hurt that there was a handsome hero, rescuing the damsel in distress - in fast cars and during a high risk shooting scene. While I knew who the bad guy was, and who hired them to complete the task fairly early on, I was pleased to find one or two surprises at the end.
I will definitely be looking for more by Howard.

“I love you, too,” she said in a somber tone. “I think. I’m pretty sure, though. It’s scary, isn’t it?”
“Damn terrifying.” He dropped the pen he’d been using to figure the square footage of the rooms and turned in his chair so he could haul her down onto his lap. “I thought we’d just have some fun together; then the next thing I knew I was worrying if you ate enough for breakfast. You’re like a Stealth bomber. My radar never showed a blip.” He frowned down at her.
“Don’t look at me,” she protested. “None of this was my fault. I was minding my own business, having a little shoot-out in which I was outnumbered, when you charged into the middle of it. By the way, that was good driving, the way you slid the Jaguar around.”

If you've been wanting a more heavy centric heroine book, then this is for you. The story centers around Lily, a CIA assassin bent on revenge. Swain is the CIA agent sent to neutralize Lily but his off the cuff attitude has him working with her. With the revenge storyline we have a syndicate dipping their hand into biological warfare, a mole in the CIA, and a plethora of characters with a myriad of motivations.
The suspense side is the main focus for most of the story, our hero and heroine don't even meet until 40% in but their relationship was sassy, sweet, and fun (if not completely mega deep).
The last half loads up on the sex scenes you perverts miss in the beginning and even though the ending was abrupt and not given American closure (everything tied up with a huge big bow) it was perfect. Really though, read this for the great heroine.

An experienced female assassin with a heart of gold, walks off the reservation one day and plinks the man who killed her only friends. CIA send in a Texan operator who has a penchant for fast and sexy cars to remind her that it's not a good idea to leave the reservation...did I mention he also has a heart of gold?
Anyway for someone who has been on the job for 20 years she seems to struggle with switching off and pulling the trigger. Presumably he's been on the job for a while as well so it's surprising that when she points a .22 pistol at his head he just laughs at the low caliber like someone who has never seen what a low caliber bullet can do.

I didn't much like this book. It was all a bit too twee. It was quite well written and for what it is the story was entertaining, but I'd be surprised if Linda Howard spent more than 10 minutes on Google doing the research for this book.

This book was good in a spycraft/thriller/romance sort of way. It was a little of each. I enjoyed the plot and characters and especially appreciated that the 'bad guys' had personalities and loyalties that gave some believable depth.

The last third of the book moved rather slowly. There were multiple instances of a course of action being decided upon only to find out the characters were forced to wait, or decided against it, etc. That got a little frustrating toward the end. I'm mostly annoyed we never went to {SPOILER ALERT} ... Disneyland Paris after all the teasing it. C'mon, I can't be the only gal that wants my badass assassins riding Dumbo in Fantasyland.

My major gripe with the book is the ending. I wanted to see the fallout with the characters regarding the multiple reveals. Swain isn't who Liliane thought he was. Frank isn't who anyone thinks he is. And it just stops there. One more chapter would have been nice, and I guess that's not the worst thing you can say about a book -- that you wanted a little more.

p.s. Also, who the heck is John Medina? I don't even remember him in this book...

2 mercenaries fall in love, though it seems as though one is charged with killing the other, and set off on a mission to stop an organization from capitalizing on spreading the Avian flu and it's vaccination.
mostly in France, also England, Greece

Unfortunately, I read All the Queen's Men, the second novel in the CIA Spies series, before I read Kiss Me While I Sleep and this book seemed so blah in comparison. The romance between Lily and Swain took ages to develop and when they eventually got there, it just felt flat. The sidestory with the villanous Nervi family also fell apart after they served their purpose of bringing Lily and Dwain together. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Pick up Linda Howard's All the Queen's Men instead.

I really should stop doing the audio book thing with romance novels. Especially ones with REALLY awful and very cheesy sex scenes. The woman they had doing it sounded as old as my mother and it was just so many points of wrong.

The non-romance plot was pretty interesting. But the romance part is what made me dislike this story completely. I think I only have one more Howard left from the library and then I'll be done with her.

Why I'm continuing to punish myself, I don't know.

Oh! And calling this John Medina #3 is just ridiculous. The man was mentioned once. In one sentence. And that's it.

The ending was too pat and the plot was tied up too neatly. It had good suspence up until that point.
