I did not expect to like this book as much as I did, but I was caught up in it from the start. Larson is able to really draw a reader into thinking they’re reading this murder mystery piece of fiction, despite this being a work of nonfiction. I hadn’t known anything about the Crippen murder prior to reading this book and I finished feeling astonished and intrigued.

I’ve always enjoyed Larson’s books but found his overtly misogynistic description of the literal murder victim to be very disconcerting and unnecessary.
Graphic: Murder
Moderate: Misogyny
Minor: Suicide
