3.5⭐️(maybe). I enjoyed the book for the vibes, the way it’s written transports you to cadence and has some beautiful quotes. It is a fantasy with a hint of mystery and very cosy vibes. A bit slow for my liking, there were some parts where I was struggling to keep reading and it was very good that I had so much free time to read so I didn’t lose the momentum. Def not a page turner but a nice cosy book to read with a some mystery and romance. Overall I enjoyed it but not my favorite, will be reading the second one

coming off of a big reading slump with this move and boy have i missed reading. i desperately tried to pick up some books over the last two months to no avail but this book has officially gotten me back into reading !!

rebecca ross has done it again <3 after reading her divine rivals series (one of my fav series of all time) i knew i had to check out her other books and the elements of cadence duology are two books that i have had on my shelf for forever.

this first book was everything i wanted it to be with a magical island with elemental beings and music and not one but two beautiful romances that had me flying through the pages. not to mention that every relationship the characters have with friends, family, and lovers is just so stunning and heartbreakingly gorgeous to read. i was absolutely obsessed and cried at the end of the book ahah.

i really really really enjoyed this book and i am so looking forward to the second (especially with that plot twist of an ending !!!!) ! rebecca ross has cemented herself as one of my favorite authors and i will highly recommend her books to anyone that i meet !

DNF I read like 3 chapters and that was enough to know to not waste my time on this book. I was so confused the whole time

I almost gave this 2.75 stars. The plot, characters, and setting are all incredible, but something about how this author writes just really takes me out of it. I'm not sure exactly what it is, it just almost feels immature?

But I was intrigued enough to finally finish the story (2 years later) and will read the sequel as well.

DNF @ 21%
You know what? I’m going to DNF. I’m having the same issues as I had with Divine Rivals: dull characters and the writing is nothing special. With the pace also being slow, there’s just nothing for me to actively enjoy, while that’s my primary goal when reading a book. So yeah. I can’t be bothered to read another 360 pages. I think Rebecca Ross’s books just aren’t for me. If you’re a fantasy-lover this could still be for you, though!
