This was such an emotional story, it was sometimes hard to read but very worth it. Early in the book, the title character's fiancé is killed. Much of the book addresses how she processes her grief and how her family and friends stand by her. She very slowly begins to see how others are moving on with their lives and she's still idealizing her lost relationship. The ending was predictable in a good way, but I found myself thinking it was too abrupt, though it's hard to say how the story should have continued from there.
Graphic: Grief
Moderate: Pregnancy, Medical trauma, and Car accident
Minor: Injury/Injury detail and Alcohol

What a beautiful, heartbreaking, and ultimately sanguine story, with full characters making hard decisions and expressing big emotions. I did not want it to end. Josie Silver's writing never erred, and Olivia Vinall's narration was so tender, bringing Lydia fully to life. Easily my favorite romance of 2022 so far.
Graphic: Grief and Death
Moderate: Miscarriage, Car accident, Injury/Injury detail, and Pregnancy
