Old Children's Book. Liked it as a kid, but haven't read it in years.

The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown is a classic from the 1940s about an imaginary game of hide-and-seek where a baby bunny runs away and transforms himself into different objects. The mother bunny follows him around the world so they can always be together. It’s comforting and sweet. Baby Brooklyn seemed to like it.

Do you like opinions, giveaways, and bookish nonsense?
I have a blog for that.

Some of the lines depict kind of an overbearing mama bunny if you think deeply about it, but I just love this line: "If you become a bird and fly away from me," said his mother, "I will be a tree that you come home to."

October 2017 - we've read this on and off since Ben was a baby, but in the last few months he's been into choosing his board books for bedtime stories. He loves this one and spends a lot of time with the pictures. I know some adults find it too oppressive, but I think that level of parental attention is exactly what he loves about it.

This book is a book about a bunny who tells his mother he wants to run away and a mother who says she will always find him. This book is colorful and beautifully drawn in a rather unique art style to children's books. The story is sweet, short, and compelling, with an ending that really drives the message home. The pictures and story patterning help make it easier for children to understand the silly things the book proposes and allow children to guess as to what is going on. This is a great social-emotional book for young children.
