I dunno. I had a hard time with this one. Carter writes with ten million unnecessary chapters, chopping the story up like mad and messing with the flow. Also - the extreme violence against women, especially in this book, and the way we were constantly reminded of all the terrible things put inside, inside, inside the women, made me so uncomfortable to read. At some point you’ll surely just reference the weapon, not the weapon found inside the victim all the time? It was just… too much.

All the characters seem to have the same voice, and aren’t distinguishable from one another. Hunter is also soooo smart and better than everyone but just… I don’t know. Not to mention how all women seem to be extremely attractive and then yet butchered in the extreme as well. Also, all women seem to fall all over themselves around Hunter and just hit on him all the time.

These are quick reads but they are violent in excess and not something I would recommend to most people. I love a thriller. I love a procedural. I can deal with the violence when there is a story to tell, but sometimes this just feels gratuitous. In this novel especially, at any rate.

Definitely going to be taking a break from these, and not sure if/when I will return to them.

The best thing that a Crime/mystery book can do is genuinely scare the daylights out of you, and this is EXACTLY what 'The Night Stalker' did! I was terrified to leave my bedroom in case there was a creep under my bed or waiting in the dark for me. The deaths were so gruesome that it is a real wonder how Chris Carter can imagine and then so effortlessly detail them in his books. Another really great read by Mr.Carter!

Overview: Oh...my...goodness...Just when I thought Chris Carter's books couldn't get any more gruesome...This was next level. It was brilliant as usual, full of twists, short chapters with mini cliffhangers and gripping plot lines. And the murders...I actually messaged a friend who had read it at one point. The descriptions made me seriously cringe and squeeze my legs together (if you've read this then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about).

Good points: Everything. Literally everything. I'm not sure I'll ever read a Chris Carter book that I don't love. I love the MC (Hunter) so much and learning more about him as the books progress.

Not so good points: You'd think I wouldn't have any negative to say...but I do have a little something but this is more like an observation rather than a negative. Has anyone who's read a book by this author noticed that he likes to start each chapter with how long it took the character to get somewhere?

Leuk boek dat soms een klein beetje verwarrend is door de verschillende pov's. Verder een uniek boek dat goed ik uitgewerkt, die je op het puntje van je stoel houdt tijdens het lezen.
