I don't know that I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the wayfarer's series. Dex is a likable character in the human world, but they become a little bit insufferable insufferable once introduced to Moss Cap and they have to face their feelings of inadequacy. They are very human, and their insecurity manifesting as shame and stress is incredibly understandable, but it makes them a bit frustrating as a protagonist. That being said, their character arc is made all the more satisfying because of their initial petulance. Moss Cap is a sweetheart. The novel had a great message about the search for meaning.

What an absolutely lovely heartwarming book that will single-handedly change how I enjoy every cup of tea from now on. Deeply thoughtful and full of feeling, this is a perfect palate cleanser for anyone, but especially those in the midst of career burnout/crisis.

5 stars, this is such a special book, it is my new treasure, if I hadn't been reading a library copy I would've been marking the lines that I could feel burning new neural pathways in my brain and making me cry. And specifically, as one of the reviews on the back of this copy aptly put it, making me "cry the good sort of tears - the sort when someone is unexpectedly kind to you at the moment you need it most."
This book is a hugely refreshing vision of an optimistic, beautiful future. The world-building is incredible and also incremental, given to you when you need context but never overwhelming you with detail. The characters are extremely lovable, their interactions were funny enough to make me laugh out loud to myself. It is charming and insightful and relaxing and warm. Strongly recommend reading it outdoors, in a quiet place, with some greenery, and your favorite warm drink.

This very short book brought up a lot of emotions, but I'm not really sure what emotions they are. Sadness, perhaps? Longing? A weird mix of hope and despair? It was a very philosophical story in a solarpunk-style world, with reflections on the idea of having a "life purpose" and the seemingly-universal human desire for something *more*. The protagonist's longing for something else, something beyond what they have and do now, a longing so deep it seems to cross into depression at times, was the most relatable thing I've read in a long time. The book made me feel like crying and I have yet to determine if that's a bad thing or not. It was, if nothing else, a deeply emotional read.

Comfort in book form. Pretty light on the sci fi? Kind of? It feels very contemporary but with a sentient robot and everyone’s living on a moon in an eco-conscious society. It’s funny, cozy and comforting. 10/10.
