It just feels nice to hop back into a Murderbot book. It's kind of like checking in on a friend and seeing what shenanigans they've been up to, and I got to see Dr. Mensah and the rest of that crew from the first book again! Throughout the book, Murderbot continues its process of figuring out what it wants and who it is. It also reevaluates its relationships with humans and those that could be considered "friends" (quotes because I'm not sure it's quite ready for those deeper feelings).

"I didn't know what I wanted (I still didn't know what I wanted) and when you're told what to do every second of your existence, change is terrifying." p.128

Amazing. I love Murderbot and I love seeing their progressions/growth. This story shows a more sentimental/emotional side to Murderbot and it warms my heart ☺️

This is definitely up there in fave murderbot books so far, the team reunited! As with most sci-fi, my imagining of most of the scenes is incredibly vague but still loving this series. Though keeping up with all the names and places is starting to get difficult.

No spoilers but I love the memory scene here, it was beautiful.

I think we're all Murderbot. We just want to be left alone with our shows but people keep ruining that dream. I'm glad Wells brought back the original team from All Systems Red to really put an end cap on what was supposed to be a 'conclusion' but I'm glad she decided to continue the series.

THE FEELS OMFG!!! i was secretly hoping murderbot would eventually meet up with dr. mensah again and omg it happened and my heart was pitter pattering. i know it doesn't like the emotions it's feeling, but murderbot's inner monologue about it had me in my feels. i love it and cannot wait to read the full length novel!!

It's Murderbot Diaries' fourth book and I'm devouring it (for a reason - the whole series is so good!). Murderbot has adventured far and wide to shed light on its own past and gather evidence of GrayCris Corporation's crimes, but now, it's time to return to those who this began with.

Ohhoo, what an action-packed story it was - reuniting with old friends, complaining about humans, sarcasm, strange emotions, badass fighting and near death situations. Seriously, I have been waiting for this!
We are back to help out the "first" crew (Dr. Mensah, specifically) and Murderbot, who definitely doesn't care, sure does a lot to help these humans. I was so giddy to see the reunion!
Even though Murderbot itself wasn't sure how to refer to them, ART had already planted the seed that PreservationAux was Murderbot's crew, that these were Murderbot's humans. And they are!

I was having an emotion, and I hate that.

It was fascinating to see Murderbot's internal (emotional) struggles and to see it want to win against GrayCris purely out of spite. (In hindsight, that wasn't a very good idea, but it was successful, so... I'll take that.) That did lead us to some very unfortunate circumstances in which Murderbot almost deleted itself out of existence (I blame it on the wonky risk assessment module), which would have had me sobbing at 3 am. (Guaranteed.) Thankfully, things turned out MUCH better, with everyone intact, but perhaps some were changed and some even a little broken.

It would have been hilarious if I wasn’t about to die. It was still a little hilarious.
