DNF at 45%

- Unsufferable character : Not likable, overly done, exaggerated to a point you have to eye roll. I can believe she is a klutz, just to that point it seems done on purpose. I get it you want to make klutz a part of her identity, well I don't see how it is going to make her likable.
- Plot not engaging

- The writing is good, just not my taste.

Not what I expected

I love Emma's other works, they're always funny, endearing, exciting and the characters are wonderfully written.
However, in Catastrophe Queen, I didn't enjoy it. It's a normal length story but it felt like it went on and on. Every paragraph referenced Mallory's klutzy attributes, and it got annoying and boring. It was like she had no other characteristics or abilities.
I didn't connect with any of the characters, and the story was very slow building, so slow that Mallory and Cameron didn't get together until around 63% through the book, and that very tentative and mainly some light flirting.
I look forward to Emma's next work, but this wasn't for me.

.

I really liked the plot but the editing was subpar. There were way to many mistakes and it bugged me a lot.

Catastrophe Queen is Emma Hart's new laugh out loud, hot mess, surprisingly sweet romantic comedy. Emma always delivers the laughs, the lust, the fun, and the sexiness. Her writing is fantastic, her characters fun, flirty and hilarious. Mallory is a hot mess. A walking catastrophe. But she's sexy, pretty, funny and just trying to get a job so she can move back out of her parents' house. After an unfortunate incident with a car, a hot guy and a tragically lost cup of coffee, she get a job. But the hot guy? He's her new boss. They are as different as two people can be, but they instantly click. Yes, they are mutually attracted to each other, but there's more to it. They are comfortable, flirty and just genuinely like each other. Mallory isn't like any woman Cameron has ever met. She's smart, is really good at her job, but she's flighty, trips over her own feet and is constantly spilling things. She's just what he needs in his life. A ray of sunshine who amuses him and doesn't take herself too seriously. She's adorable and crazy and perfect for him. But, they can't date. They are boss and assistant. Right? Well, after just one little taste of her, he wants more. Who cares if she works for him. He's not letting her get away. It doesn't take too much to convince Mallory. Cameron is a great guy. He's nice, sweet, sexy, funny and kisses like a dream. She doesn’t care about his money or trying to impress him. They just fit together! I loved this story! Cameron is rich and handsome and wears suits, but he's not buttoned up. He's open, flirty, fun and has a great laugh. If anyone can make an office romance work, it's these two! Overall, I loved it. Laughed so much, smiled the rest of the time and never once wanted to smack anyone! That's a win win!

In fact, wine was about the only liquid I'd never spilled. Alcohol in general, actually. Coffee? Sure. Water? Always. Juice? Quite regularly. Alcohol? The nectar of the Gods? Hell to the no.

"I'm attracted to you. I think you're adorable and beautiful and funny, and if you'd like to resign so I can woo you without being your boss, I can't say I'd be sad to see you go."

"Have you seen that man's buns? Phwoar. That's a damn good choice righ there. Also, she's wearing yoga pants. That relationship isn't making it past a hot dog."

"Stop it. I'll bring you food. Clearly, that's the way to your heart."
"Uh-huh. Food and orgasms."
"Luckily for you, I'm good at giving both."

Probably 4.5 stars, but I will round up! Now, I have loved everything I have read by this author so far. This one did not disappoint! It started off immediately making me laugh out loud as I read. While I am not clumsy like this main character, so much else about her reminded me of myself, and that is usually what helps me get into the story. While there were lots of laughs throughout the story, there was a bit in the middle when I wasn't quite as invested as I've been in the other books by this author. Not sure why, just felt a little bit out of it. But further into the story, getting sucked into the craziness of Mallory's family, not to mention loving Cameron's as well, I was hooked once again, and couldn't tear myself away.

Once again I was won over by the hilarious banter and witty dialogue, steamy romance, and the sweet perfection of the man we are meant to fall in love with. I still think it would be a blast to hang out with this author some day, and hope one day I get the chance to meet her and totally fangirl!
